Sami is 21 and a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She currently has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Sami is in the process of opening up a creative and performing arts camp for chronically ill teens and young adults called C.H.O.I.R. Stars. Sami recently gave up her title as Miss Wisconsin ANTSO National Miss with which she placed top ten at the national competition. She also has held an internship with Wisconsin senator, Herb Kohl.
In her free time Sami speaks about the importance of blood and plasma donation, and volunteers as a member of the IDF teen and young adult council. Having dealt with numerous health disorders since birth, Sami knows what it is like to spend a great deal of time in the hospital.
As of now she doesn't fit perfectly into a diagnosis category. The current reference to her immune deficiency is IgG deficiency with low IgA. She gets treated with antibiotic therapy, but has also been on IVIG in the past. In addition to this Sami has antiphospholipid syndrome - an autoimmune clotting disorder, and iron deficiency anemia requiring frequent transfusions amongst many other health conditions. Her goal is to be an example of how you can continue to lead a successful life with a chronic illness, and believes that anything is possible no matter what life throws at you.
