My name is Jordan and I am 20 years old. I was diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) when I was a teenager at the age of 14. However, I have been sick since the day I was born.
When I was younger the doctors thought I had allergies, so I received allergy shots until I was about 8 years old. Finally, I went to an immunologist and that's when they figured out that I have CVID. I went through a lot to get to where I am today. I had to have a lobectomy and two sinus surgeries. I take infusions once a month and it does wonders for me! I finally kind of feel like a regular kid. I have a job that I really like and I am going to a local community college.
For a few years now I have been visiting plasma centers and going to IDF conferences/workshops. I really enjoying getting to visit plasma donors and having a chance to say thanks to them. PIDD can be very tough - especially as a young teenager. Even when it is hard, it is important to be strong and hang in there and be thankful for the things you have. I know I am!
